Lily Rubio

Lily Rubio is not only the designer and founder of Cupcake Covertops™ but she is also known around the country as a bi-lingual Inspirational singer with a unique sound that infuses Latin pop, ballads and a touch of hip hop all in one. She is best known for her songs “Contigo Es Facil”, “Don’t You See” and “A Friend of Mine”. Perhaps it was no surprise that her album “Entiendeme” was recently nominated for “Best Latin album” by jpfolks, one of the largest music organizations in the world, and came in 2nd place out of over 20 nominees! Her songs, “Don’t you see” and “Dreams” were also nominated for “Song of the year” by the gospel music association (GMA) in 2006 and 2007.Her talent has allowed her to share the stage with legendary greats such as

Rene Gonzalez, Danny Berrios and New York Times best selling author, Janet Attwood. Lily has a great passion not only for music but for making a difference in the world, especially in the lives of young people who so desperately need positive role models. She desires to inspire our young people and let them know that there is more to life beyond the influences of “pop” culture.

In 2006 Lily graduated Miami College with a degree in Music Business, which she believes gave her an advantage on truly understanding the business side of the music industry. There she was taught by some of the music industries pioneers such and Rey Sanchez (musical director for Latin pop singer Chayanne) and she also worked as an intern for Sony Music publishing, South Beach Studios (recorded Bono, Avril Lavigne, Whitney Houston) and Destin Songs Publishing (publishing co songwriter Desmond Childs, best known for writing “Living la vida loca”, Ricky Martin and most of Bon Jovi’s greatest hits).

In 2009 Lily’s business mind was put into action when she expanded her brand by launching “Cupcake Covertops by Lily Rubio”. This brand not only offers a wonderful fashion solution to today’s low cut and reveling clothing styles but it also promotes modesty and self worth to all women of faith. (Check out -The Cupcake Movement) Lily is also in the beginning stages of forming a film production company with her brother; comedian and actor, Will Rubio in which they plan to produce inspiring movies that highlight the causes they are passionate about.

Perhaps best of all, Lily is committed to communicating the good news of Christ's gospel to her audiences regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion. Her music is for anyone who is looking to ‘aspire to something higher’! Lily believes there is so much separation even among the different Christian denominations and hopes to be an instrument in uniting everyone through her music. Yo creo que tener éxito en la música requiere perseverancia. En la búsqueda de nuestros sueños ciertamente habrá obstáculos que se interpondrán en nuestro camino, pero al final recaerá en una sola cosa . . . “¿Qué tanto realmente lo quieres?” Para mí, yo realmente lo quería y no deje que nada se interpusiera ante mis sueños. Mi camino ha estado lleno de un sube y baja de experiencias que me han permitido ser testigo de lo bueno y de lo malo de esta industria. Mirando hacia atrás, me doy cuenta que todas mis experiencias, tanto positivas como negativas, me han permitido ser quien soy ahora. No lo sabía en ese entonces, pero ahora me he dado cuenta de que estaba siendo preparada para algo muy grande.

Después de graduarme de la preparatoria, asistí a la universidad y obtuve una carrera en negocio musical. Aprendí muchas cosas que después me ayudaron en mi carrera. Estaba constantemente pensando en ideas “fuera de la caja” y como interconectar y conocer gente quien me pudiera ayudar. Hice todo desde ser interna con Sony Music, hasta asistir a conferencias de música y estar en donde quiera que llamara la atención hacia mí. Mientras perseguía mi sueño, me encontré tratando de armonizar con la música secular aunque sabía que mis estándares eran muy diferentes. Me sentí animada a continuar en la industria, pero no podía encontrar mi nicho.

Desilusionada por lo que había observado, empecé a escribir canciones inspiradoras. Crecí en un fuerte hogar Cristiano, pero nunca consideré cantar música que eleva el espíritu hasta que descubrí la industria de la música Cristiana. Me enamoré de las canciones que tocan los corazones de la gente y me di cuenta que es donde Dios siempre quiso que yo estuviera. Grabé un álbum de cinco canciones que reflejaban mis propias experiencias, y empecé a darme cuenta que mucha gente también se identificaba con ellas. He cantado para miles de personas por todo el país y he creado una base fuerte de admiradores. He desarrollado una pasión particular en trabajar con jovencitas adolescentes y ahora me dedico a hablar con jóvenes por todo el mundo. Espero que por medio de mi música pueda ser un modelo positivo y pueda ser utilizada como un instrumento para ayudarles a tomar mejores decisiones en sus vidas.

Tomé un corto descanso pero estoy de regreso y las cosas están mejores que nunca. Me case recientemente en Abril del 2006 y estoy más feliz que nunca. Mi esposo y yo vivimos en Ft. Lauderdale, FL en donde él esta estudiando medicina. Él es uno de mis más grandes inspiraciones y juntos decidimos que era tiempo de regresar a los estudios para grabar un álbum completo, esta vez en español e inglés. Empezamos un sello independiente discográfico, One Faith Music, y nos unimos con un productor extraordinario y con escritores bien talentosos los cuales me ayudaron a publicar mis pensamientos spanglish al español. Ahora que el álbum esta terminado, estamos negociando convenios de distribución, preparando horarios de giras, como también la mercadotecnia y campañas promociónales.
